Could Spurs Be Title Challengers Next Season?

The North London club have looked a real threat since Antonio Conte took over as manager. With the right summer financial allowance, it looks as though the Italian could be ready to take Spurs to the next level.

Spurs have already announced the signing of ex Inter Milan player Ivan Peresic, who spent 7 years at the Italian club, scoring 55 goals in 254 appearances. The Croatian spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he won both the Champions League and the Bundesliga title with the German giants. His honours with Inter Milan include the 2020/21 Serie A title under Conte, as well as last seasons Coppa Italia, where he scored 2 extra time goals, and the Super Coppa.

Tottenham also appear to be ready to sign Middlesbrough right back Djed Spence, who impressed in the Championship last season as he played on loan for Nottingham Forrest. The 21 year old made 45 Championship appearances last season for Forrest, admirably tallying 6 goals and assists, as well as completing a total of 67 tackles (75%) and recording 18 clean sheets. The youngster clearly has a lot of potential, and under the right manager could become a seriously dangerous player in Europe.

Tottenham’s owners ENIC announced last month that they will be injecting £150m into the club to help with squad improvements, giving Conte a lot of freedom to get his club to the top level they need to be at. With this huge sum of money at Conte’s feet, it’s hard to believe that there won’t be more major improvements in the North London club’s dressing room.

With Champions League football for Spurs next season after they won the battle for forth place against local rivals Arsenal, as well as having a respected manager in Antonio Conte, plenty of top players will be open to playing for Tottenham as they aim to finally rebuild their reputation. The thought of Champions League football in a squad full of potential is appealing to most players across Europe so it will be interesting to find out who will be revealed next in a Spurs shirt.

There is no doubt that the top English clubs will be anxiously watching over their shoulders as we await the new season. So will Spurs be able to finally win the Premier League title that they’ve been dreaming of for so long?
